Home sweet home

We are settled into our new home in Forest Grove, OR. I am very happy and excited to be spending the next four years here in this town. We are loving our new apartment, our church ward, and the people around us. We feel so blessed how everything has turned out.
Now that moving is over with it is time to start packing my hospital bag and deep cleaning the apartment from top to bottom. Too excited for our baby to join us!
Here are some pictures of our new place:

By the way, I love that my husband trusts my decorating skills and goes along with it. I also love that he is secure enough to let me use coral doors for our headboard! He's a keeper!

Baby L's nursery

Baby L's room is finally complete! I have been waiting to set up his nursery ever since we found out we were having a baby boy! It has been so hard not being able to nest until now, but I love how it has all come together!
As soon as I found out I was pregnant I started pinning away on Pinterest many nursery ideas, DIY projects, and sewing tutorials. I knew I wanted to make a lot of his things, because 1. Baby stuff is EXPENSIVE 2. I'm very picky and wanted to be able to pick the exact color, fabric, design, etc of everything.
Nursery colors: Cobalt blue and Kelly green
Theme: Geometric...with some animals here and there :)

It's killing my OCD side not having actual pictures to frame yet, just a couple more weeks!!! (frames-Target, Octagon art-made by me:))

Elle the elephant and Alli the alligator, Scott and I couldn't help but name them already :)

This was a super easy mobile that I made and is one of my favorite things in the nursery. It pretty much consisted of cutting, folding paper, and then stringing them onto an embroidery hoop!

(Rug-TJ Maxx, crib skirt-made by my mom)

Ralph the Rhino! This was my absolute favorite find when shopping for baby boy's nursery. I have been itching to hang it up ever since I got it about 4 months ago! (Rhino head-TJ Maxx)

My hubby and my DIY sign we made earlier this summer. The changing pad cover is something I sewed up also!

(ABC cards-Hobby Lobby)

Found this glider at a garage sale for a steal AND it was already in mint condition, all I had to do was recover the cushions.

The many burp cloths my mom and I made, hopefully I don't have a spitter upper, but if I do I am well prepared ;) (Metal basket-The Rustic Rooster in good ol Prosser)

Scored the little stool and 'Pierce Arrow Skippy' sign, along with the oar (you can see in the first picture) at some antique stores in Vancouver (Blanket basket-TJ Maxx)

(Globe-Goodwill)

In love with his book holder. I found the crate at an antique store and had my dad screw on some wheels and ta-da

The next 4 years...

Scott started Optometry school this past Monday. He has worked so hard to get where he is and I could not be more proud of him! He worked so hard this past year studying for the OAT, scoring high, and completing his applications to several different schools. Getting accepted to his number one school was just the cherry on top.
We couldn't have been more blessed with the location we are at right now and this baby coming soon!
I am so excited for him and this new beginning.
I know he will do so so so well and I cannot wait to see him as a doctor one day.
It's going to be a long hard road but it will be worth it.
Luckily he hardly ever gets nervous, totally opposite of me. So much so that I can't help but get nervous for him because he is so calm all the time.
Here's to 4 years of studying eyeballs!

dropping him off was a little sad for me, this summer has been so nice having him with me pretty much all the time. It was the best.

It was also my hubby's Birthday on the 21st! Unfortunately he had orientation all day at school but we had fun celebrating that night at Red Robin.
It has been one hectic week!
We moved EVERYTHING last Monday, Scott started orientation on Wednesday, his Birthday Thursday, and he started school this last Monday.
He has been so great.
Him and his dad pretty much single handedly moved all our belongings up to our second floor apartment, which does not have AC by the way.
Scott keeps telling me that it is very common for people in the Northwest not to have AC which me and my pregnant self thinks that is ridiculous.
Thank goodness the weather will cool down soon!

snickers brownie ice cream cake I made for Scott the weekend of his Birthday!

Playa Del Carmen

For Christmas this past year my in-laws surprised us with an amazing and generous gift of a family trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico for this Summer!
At that point Scott and I had just started trying to have a baby so we were a little worried that we would possibly not be able to go. Little did we know we were pregnant...but it all worked out just right, I was 34 weeks when we went and 36 weeks is the cut off on traveling during pregnancy!
I have to admit I was pretty leery about leaving the states and traveling while being that far along with child, but it was so nice to have a last hoorah before our due date.
I'm so grateful that nothing went wrong and I didn't come home with a mexican citizen baby ;).
The beach was exactly what I needed.
The ocean was perfection.
It was so fun swimming in the water, it was almost like my belly weight was lifted when I was swimming. If you have ever been pregnant you know that carrying around all that extra weight in the front can be tiring!

We left EARLY (I can't even recall the time, that's how early it was) on July 31. We had a layover in San Francisco on the way down. When we finally got there and stepped out of the airport to find our ride the humidity hit us like a brick wall. I have never experienced humidity like that before!

We arrived at the house we stayed at late evening after stopping at Walmart to get some necessities for breakfast and lunches.
The house was gorgeous! I don't think my in-laws could have picked a better house for our family vacation. It was a two story home with a pool and waterfall right in the front. It was a short walk to the beach and a community pool.

Our daily routine went a little like this:
Leisurely wake up. Eat breakfast. Change into bathing suits. Pack beach bag. Walk to the beach. Tan. Swim. Tan. Swim. Swim. Swim...it was too hot for me to lay out long. Walk back to the house. Eat lunch. Cool down. Rest. Take a short nap and/or watch a movie. Shower. Get ready for evening festivities. Walk to 5th avenue (the street with everything). Eat dinner. Shop. Stroll. Head home. Play a game. Go to bed. Repeat.

Some of my favorite things about the trip:
We found the best tacos for only 80 cents each.
In other words, the food!
Miami Vices, virgin of course.
Swimming in the PERFECT temperature ocean.
Getting tan.
Looking at all the fun shops.
Mexican Coca-Cola.
Hearing the testimonies of the locals at church and Scott translating.
Playing games.
Swinging in a hammock.
Not caring about fixing my hair the whole vacation.
Scoring big on a cute little hupil clutch that just so happens to match my Nena & Co diaper bag.
Being with family.

During this vacation Scott caught a fish. He caught a turtle. He cut open several different coconuts. AND he touched a sting ray. I think I have a little adventurer on my hands.

Scott was determined to get so tan that he looked like a local, and I believe he achieved his goal haha. There came a point where I don't think he could have gotten any tanner.

So grateful for the family that I married into.

Seriously sooo relaxing.

Scott and I saw about 50 of these things climbing down the tree next to the house one day.

We found this hammock in a drawer in our room literally about 10 minutes before we left for the airport. BUMMER.

It was definitely a relaxing and fun vacation!
Thank you so much Loren and Velenti for the amazing trip and memories! We love you!
