Home sweet home

We are settled into our new home in Forest Grove, OR. I am very happy and excited to be spending the next four years here in this town. We are loving our new apartment, our church ward, and the people around us. We feel so blessed how everything has turned out.
Now that moving is over with it is time to start packing my hospital bag and deep cleaning the apartment from top to bottom. Too excited for our baby to join us!
Here are some pictures of our new place:

By the way, I love that my husband trusts my decorating skills and goes along with it. I also love that he is secure enough to let me use coral doors for our headboard! He's a keeper!

Baby L's nursery

Baby L's room is finally complete! I have been waiting to set up his nursery ever since we found out we were having a baby boy! It has been so hard not being able to nest until now, but I love how it has all come together!
As soon as I found out I was pregnant I started pinning away on Pinterest many nursery ideas, DIY projects, and sewing tutorials. I knew I wanted to make a lot of his things, because 1. Baby stuff is EXPENSIVE 2. I'm very picky and wanted to be able to pick the exact color, fabric, design, etc of everything.
Nursery colors: Cobalt blue and Kelly green
Theme: Geometric...with some animals here and there :)

It's killing my OCD side not having actual pictures to frame yet, just a couple more weeks!!! (frames-Target, Octagon art-made by me:))

Elle the elephant and Alli the alligator, Scott and I couldn't help but name them already :)

This was a super easy mobile that I made and is one of my favorite things in the nursery. It pretty much consisted of cutting, folding paper, and then stringing them onto an embroidery hoop!

Ralph the Rhino! This was my absolute favorite find when shopping for baby boy's nursery. I have been itching to hang it up ever since I got it about 4 months ago! (Rhino head-TJ Maxx)

My hubby and my DIY sign we made earlier this summer. The changing pad cover is something I sewed up also!

Found this glider at a garage sale for a steal AND it was already in mint condition, all I had to do was recover the cushions.

The many burp cloths my mom and I made, hopefully I don't have a spitter upper, but if I do I am well prepared ;) (Metal basket-The Rustic Rooster in good ol Prosser)

Scored the little stool and 'Pierce Arrow Skippy' sign, along with the oar (you can see in the first picture) at some antique stores in Vancouver (Blanket basket-TJ Maxx)

In love with his book holder. I found the crate at an antique store and had my dad screw on some wheels and ta-da

Homemade goodness

Last year Scott and I took some homemade raspberry jam with us to school that my mom made. We loved being able to just pull a jar out of the freezer every time we ran out of jam, plus homemade jam is delicious. So we decided we wanted to make some of our own strawberry jam for this upcoming school year.
My mom has always made homemade jam and I have always loved it, and I am so happy to be continuing the tradition.

We used MCP pectin and followed the 'easy freezer jam' directions that came with it.

Neither Scott or I had a clue how many strawberries we needed let alone how many batches to do or how many jars are made with each batch. This is probably why we ended up with A LOT of extra strawberries :). So not only did we make strawberry jam but strawberry pie too.

We were lucky to have my mother-in-law's food processor to chop the strawberries, otherwise it would have taken FOREVER!

Lots and lots of strawberries, the kitchen smelled divine.

My little homemaker :)

We ended up with a dozen jars of strawberry jam. I will say that we could not believe how much sugar we had to use for three batches, but the jam sure tastes great ;). We are pretty proud of ourselves! I look forward to making homemade jam again with my hubby when we run out in a couple years or so haha.
