12 weeks

I am 12 weeks and 3 days today. I couldn't be more excited to finally be noticing a growth in my belly, yes, I am excited for that big baby bump. However, once I am that far along I am sure I will be saying otherwise.
Like almost all pregnant women, I wanted to document every single week. I even made a cute chalkboard and all to write the week number, the baby's size compared to a fruit/veggie, and my cravings. That hasn't happened yet. During my first trimester all I wanted to do was sleep and actually am still enjoying afternoon naps. Scott is amazed at how many hours in the day I sleep. I was pretty nauseous during my first trimester as well, weeks 6-9 were the worst. Every smell made me feel nauseous, and I mean every smell. Even the smell of pretzels! Who knew pretzels had a scent, well I do now! I am pretty sure I went a full week without even doing my hair or make-up. For these reasons, I have not gotten around to documenting my pregnancy until now. Props to pregnant women who work during their first trimester.
Now that I am past 12 weeks I have felt so much better, I feel like I have gotten almost all my energy back and I have even started cooking again, delicious Pinterest meals I might add. I kept reading that after 12 weeks women usually grow out of the nausea stage, I am glad that this has been true for me. Here are some fun facts about my pregnancy so far:

+ My due date is September 13, 2014 (193 days left)
+ The baby is the size of a plum
+ He/she has the ability to open and close their fists and make sucking movements with the muscles in the mouth
+ Cravings: strawberry pop-tarts, cheese pizza, salad (I have never loved salad SO much), popcorn, ice cream, and pickles
+ Aversions: ground beef, tacos, chocolate, and pretzels
+ I hate to admit it but I have been moody and cry a lot, thankfully Scott is a good sport about it
+ I have been sleeping on my left side, I wake up about twice a night to use the restroom. It is killing me not being able to sleep on my back, which is the only way I have ever slept. According to all the pregnancy apps that I have downloaded, laying on your back puts too much pressure on major blood vessels
+ It's killing me not knowing what we are having yet, I want to start sewing some cute things for the babe
+ We think our baby is a girl :)

I will be enjoying my afternoon nap now, I better take advantage now because I'm sure all my naps will be nonexistent once this baby comes.

  1. No no…you will get naps with your first baby. When she/he sleeps on you, you'll both be out. ;) It's the second you won't get anymore naps!
Love that you are journalling all of this. Priceless memories, that I guarantee you will forget, pregnancy kills your memory ;)
